Why Join a Cohort

A cohort is simply a group of people banded together with a specific purpose. In an educational setting a cohort is a group of learners who are taking a course together. A cohort in LBDI has all the benefits of taking a course with a local mentor plus the additional benefit of also learning from each other. The leader of the cohort is a person who not only schedules the meetings, but also functions as a mentor to the cohort.

The cohort will usually be organized by the leadership of the church to  meet an educational or ministry training need of the congregation. The leader will be chosen for their experience in ministry and their ability to mentor others.

The learning process will begin with each student going through a module in the course and then getting together as a group to discuss the questions at the end of the module together with the leader. Within each course module the students will work at their own pace but will complete the  module work before the cohort meets at the end of each module.
